How does QUINKO’s Valve Work ?

Colour Diagram - Copy

Introducing our new valve design specifically developed for kitesurfing/kiteboarding  kites.

Fitment requires that the internal valve components are inserted through the hole in which they seal. This is achieved by using our unique 2-piece composite backing disc (1).

The valve stem (2) and nut (3) create a clamping force across the kite’s bladder between and the other valve components.

The silicone rubber grommets which create an airtight seal (4 & 5) conform to make the whole system impermeable.

The 2-piece disc (1) has no need to be screwed together, it’s unique design in which both pieces contribute greater than 180 degrees to the center the placement of  ( 2 & 4) retain their position.

What do I need to install?

1.     Hex key 2.0mm and 1.5mm found in most hex key sets

2.     Tear-Aid ( For either pre-existing or Incidental holes)

3.     Scissors

4. Zip/Cable ties (small)

Can the valve be fitted directly to the bladder?

Valve cut

Yes, you can either leave or remove the old valve base.

What size hole does this valve cover? The diameter of the valve is 32mm, so it can be installed over holes Minimum of 16mm and a Maximum of ~25mm.
How much do the valves weigh? The valves each weigh 25g.
Will these valves add weight to my kite?
DDDDD
Ok let’s work this out.

Each valve has a mass of 25g each hose weighs 4g:

(25g+4g) *10 = 290g = A

I installed a set on a 9m kite that I own to install the following were removed from the kite:

– piece of valve (cut away)

– hose adapter

– Circle thing above valve

– Old hose (12g)

(see picture)

This lot had a mass of (18g+12g)  * 10 = 300g = B

So this kite is 10g (A-B) lighter than the factory made it.

Depending on how your valves are set up components that you remove may weigh more or less than my personal experience.

Which valves on my kite can this replace? The valve was specifically designed for replacing both strut and leading edge valves on kites fitted with one-pump systems, however, can also replace older style inflation and deflations valves see HERE FOR MORE DETAILS
Will this valve work with my current kites hoses? Yes, although there is variation in hose diameter on different brand kites, the current valves have a 5mm OD stem and therefore the best hose is 4mm ID hose. However, if you first fit a 1 cm stub of this hose over the valve stem it is the appropriate diameter for most standard hoses. Click here for details.

Ultimately each valve pair (LE and strut) should be changed together, or all valves on the kite at once. However, if you are replacing a single leaking valve the above method is appropriate.

With each valve purchase, a 20cm per valve pair – of 4mm ID silicone hose is included.
